City Counselling Charity Wins National Recognition for Excellence in Practice

The Milton Keynes City Counselling Centre (CCC), a small local charity based in the City centre, has received national recognition from its accrediting body, the British Association of Counsellors & Psychotherapists (BACP). At the BACP's Annual Conference on 9th October in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, the CCC was presented with the 2009 Excellence in Practice Award for its work in providing an easily accessed, free counselling service to the population of Milton Keynes.

The BACP states that this award “aims to reward excellence and high standards in counselling and psychotherapy practice”. It also rewards projects that have helped more people get access to counselling therapy and shown how effectively it can improve their quality of life. View article in full

We have just received another generous grant from Broughton Ecclesiastical Charity, which will enable us to buy a new laptop computer for our new Operational Manager Martin Crook . This is the third year running that Broughton Ecclesiastiacl Charity have made a donation to the Centre and we have previously been able to buy a much used water boiler for our kitchen and play items for the Children who have received counselling through our CHATS service. VACANCIES:

EVENTS:

Welcomers’ Tea Party, Thursday 9th July

The eagerly-awaited Tea Party took place on July 9th, with Diana saying a big thank you to a gathering of around 40 volunteer Welcomers past and present.

The Tea Party was introduced by Diana, who gave an emotional speech thanking the Welcomers for their contributions which had been the bedrock of the City Counselling Centre for 17 years. The Tea Party was to mark Diana’s reduction in hours and to signal the handover of responsibility for Welcomer welfare to Martin and Amanda.
Diana made the most of circulating as people were able to mingle and catch up with news and to share stories and anecdotes.

It was smiles all round as everybody was encouraged to tuck into homemade cakes and drink tea or coffee. As always, thanks to Roni and Wendy provided vital catering support.

Quiz Night Fundraiser 2009

We had a great evening at the last quiz night arranged by Amanda and her husband with help from Paula, Bill and Carolyn’s husband. A profit of £264 was made and this will go to the CCC Counselling Service which provides low cost counselling (£10 per session) for those not eligible for the PCT Service. Thank you to everyone who contributed and came..
