What is Counselling?
Counselling is about developing a relationship of warmth, acceptance, and trust in complete confidence. This enables the Counsellor and client/s to explore sensitively their emotions, experiences and behaviour providing an opportunity to develop more constructive ways of coping with their lives.
Who comes to counselling?
Counselling may be beneficial if you are:
- Going through a relationship breakdown (e.g. with a partner, within the family or the workplace)
- Unhappy about the way you relate to others or lacking in confidence
- Stressed and preoccupied about family matters or feeling that you can't cope with everyday life
- Worried, depressed, lonely, dissatisfied with your life or your job
- Experiencing difficulty with today's life because of past abuse
- If you suffer from a loss or a bereavement
What about confidentiality?
Marriage Care is an organisational member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and it's Counsellors operate within a universal Code of Ethics and Practice.
How do I book a session?

The appointment secretary will phone you back as soon as possible and offer you the first available session.
How much does it cost?
There are no set charges for the service. At each session, you will be offered an envelope in which to put a donation equivalent to what you can afford. It costs us £25 on average to provide a counselling session.

How long shall I have to wait?
We have six trained counsellors working in our centre. An appointment will be offered to you as soon as possible: waiting time is typically a couple of weeks.
